Rochon was born at Torrance (a suburb in Los Angeles), is the daughter of Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos was her home high school. She graduated in 1982. She completed her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and minors in theatre and sociology from California State University Dominguez hills (CSUDH). Rochon was featured as a presenter at CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities commencement ceremony in 2016.

Many wanted to bring her back on the show in a subsequent episodes, but the show was cancelled in the year 2012. Ullerup was Bree O'Brien, in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup was the character Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie which was about the catastrophe of 2015. Ullerup's recurring role in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series is Dale Travers since 2016.
