Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family and her moved abroad when she was just three. Summer went to American as well as British schools as her family was living abroad. She returned to Pasadena just prior to her 14th birthday. Enticed by the thought of becoming an actress from when she was just five years old, Summer took her first acting class at the age 14. Nine months later, Summer was signed by an agent and an agent and started to follow her dreams full-time. She attends college in weekends, and works on her degree. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress – Spirit Award. When she was 14, Bishil began to take acting classes. Within a year she had signed a contract with an agent and manager. Bishil's first performance was in the brief-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007, a film adaptation of the novel with the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate who praised Bishil's performance was "the most true thing" in an film that, despite its best intentions, felt thoroughly fake and a little embarrassing. It was as if it was an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one among the top natural film actresses to emerge in recent years." In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is the "...newcomer has an intense and thrilling performance in the role of Jasira. "In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's film, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal that garnered some positive attention from the Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel never produced.
