Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi is a Chennai-based Indian woman who was born on September 1, 1970. Lakshmi lost her parents at the age of 2 years old. Her mother moved to America in order to avoid the shame of divorcing in India. Lakshmi was a part of her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years prior to moving with her mother to the United States. Her parents divorced and Lakshmi has two younger siblings. Lakshmi is a woman who has a last name with the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity, grew up first in New York and then in Los Angeles with her mother and stepfather. Each year she returned to India to visit family members for several more months. Padma Lakshmi started acting in 1999. The first film she acted in was "Figlio di Sandokan" which was a film about an Italian pirate.
